The New Garage 

Design Challenge · Virtual Brand Experience

To launch its first fully electric vehicle in Canada, Volvo set out to redefine the garage as more than a place to park—a space that could embody sustainability, innovation, and Scandinavian design. Partnering with the Toronto Interior Design Show (IDS), a national design challenge invited Canadian architects and creators to envision this “new garage,” with the winning concept slated for a live installation at IDS 2021. When pandemic restrictions shut down in-person events, the activation seamlessly pivoted to an immersive online showcase, transforming the winning design, “Parking-Parc” by Montreal’s Tiam Maeiyan, into an interactive 3D experience complete with a video profile of the creator. The program generated millions of media impressions, significant ad value, and widespread coverage in top design outlets, solidifying Volvo Cars Canada’s reputation as a forward-thinking leader in sustainable design.
